Skygarden Siege Review & Gameplay Guide

I just spent the last couple of weeks playing Skygarden Siege, and I have to say, it's been a bit of a mixed bag for me. The game is an action RPG with tower defense elements, which sounds like a pretty intriguing concept, but the execution is where things get a little rocky. The story is set in this beautiful, floating garden world that's being invaded by all manner of monsters, and it's up to you to defend it by building towers and recruiting allies to fight alongside you.

At first, I was really into it - the graphics are gorgeous, with a really unique art style that's reminiscent of a fantasy novel. The characters are all pretty well-designed, and the voice acting is top-notch. But as I got further into the game, I started to notice that the levels were getting a bit repetitive. You've got your standard "defend the base" levels, your "rescue the guy" levels, and your "survive the horde" levels, but they all start to blend together after a while. And the tower defense elements, which I was really looking forward to, end up feeling a bit tacked on. You've only got a handful of tower types to choose from, and they're all pretty straightforward - there's not a lot of depth or strategy involved.

The combat, on the other hand, is where the game really shines. The action RPG elements are fast-paced and intense, with a wide range of abilities and upgrades to choose from. I loved experimenting with different character builds and seeing how they played out in battle. The problem is, the combat and the tower defense elements don't always mesh together seamlessly. Sometimes you'll be in the middle of a heated battle, and then suddenly you'll have to stop and build a tower to take out a particularly tough enemy. It feels like two different games mashed together, and it can be a bit jarring.

One thing that really impressed me, though, was the game's online multiplayer mode. You can team up with friends to take on levels and bosses, and it's a total blast. The game does a great job of scaling the difficulty to the number of players, so you're always challenged but never overwhelmed. And the social features are really well-implemented - you can easily join or create a group, and there are even built-in voice chat and messaging features. It's clear that the devs put a lot of thought into the multiplayer, and it shows.

Despite its flaws, I'd still recommend Skygarden Siege to fans of action RPGs and tower defense games. It's not perfect, but it's a fun, lighthearted game that's easy to pick up and play. And if you're looking for a game to play with friends, the multiplayer mode is definitely worth checking out. Just be aware that the game can get a bit repetitive, and the tower defense elements might not be as fleshed out as you'd like. Overall, I'd say Skygarden Siege is a solid, if not spectacular, game that's worth a look if you're in the market for something new to play.
