mutantblood Review & Gameplay Guide
I just finished playing MutantBlood and I'm still trying to process everything that happened. I went into this game not really knowing what to expect, I'd seen some trailers and heard some buzz from friends, but I wasn't sure if it was going to be my thing. The first thing that struck me was the atmosphere, it's super dark and gritty, the world is basically a post-apocalyptic nightmare and it really draws you in. The graphics are insane, the environments are so detailed and the character models are crazy realistic.
As for the gameplay, it's a lot of fun, it's basically an action RPG with some roguelike elements thrown in. You play as a mutant, which is basically a human who's been altered by some kind of virus, and you have to navigate this crazy world, fighting off other mutants and humans who are trying to kill you. The combat is really satisfying, it's fast-paced and intense, and the different abilities you can unlock are really cool. I loved the variety of mutations you could choose from, it added a lot of replayability to the game.
One thing that really stood out to me was the story, it's really well-written and the characters are all super unique and interesting. The main character is pretty cool, they're not your typical hero, they're more of an anti-hero, and their backstory is really tragic. The supporting characters are all great too, there's this one guy who's like a crazy scientist, and he's just so over-the-top, I loved him. The story's also really unpredictable, I didn't see some of the twists coming, and it kept me on the edge of my seat.
But, it's not all good, there are some definite flaws. The game can be really tough, sometimes it feels like the difficulty spikes are a bit too harsh, and you'll find yourself dying over and over again. The controls can also be a bit finicky, I found myself getting frustrated with the camera system, it's not the best. And, the game's also pretty short, I beat it in like 10 hours, which is pretty quick for an RPG. I also felt like some of the side quests were a bit lacking, they didn't really add much to the story, and felt like they were just there to pad out the gameplay time.
Despite the flaws, I would definitely recommend MutantBlood to fans of action RPGs. It's a really fun game, and the atmosphere and story are top-notch. If you're looking for something to play that's a bit different from the usual fantasy settings, this is a great choice. Just be prepared for some frustrating difficulty spikes, and don't expect a super long game. I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on the developers to see what they come out with next, they've got a lot of potential.
Overall, I'm really glad I played MutantBlood, it's a great game that's definitely worth checking out. The world is so rich and immersive, and the gameplay is a lot of fun. I just wish it was a bit longer, and some of the flaws were ironed out. But, even with its problems, I would still say it's one of the better games I've played this year. If you're a fan of dark, gritty RPGs, you owe it to yourself to check this out.
