Fashion Show: Makeup Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last hour playing Fashion Show: Makeup and I have to say, it's been a wild ride. I'm not exactly the target audience for this game, but I was feeling pretty bored and it was free to download, so I figured why not. The gameplay is pretty straightforward - you're in charge of running a fashion show and you have to make sure all the models look their best by applying different makeup styles and outfits. It sounds kinda silly, but it's actually pretty fun.
The graphics are definitely one of the strong points of the game. The models all look really realistic and the makeup effects are actually really impressive. I was expecting some pretty low quality stuff, but the devs really went all out on the visuals. The music is also pretty catchy, it's just this upbeat dance track that gets stuck in your head. My only real complaint about the graphics is that the backgrounds can be a bit bland at times. You're just standing in this empty room with a bunch of models walking around, it's not exactly the most exciting thing to look at.
One thing that's kinda annoyed me about the game is the microtransactions. I mean, I get it, the game is free to download, but come on. You can barely do anything without being prompted to spend money. Want to unlock a new makeup style? That'll be $5 please. Want to get some extra in-game currency? That'll be $10. It's just really frustrating, especially when you're in the middle of a level and you realise you don't have enough money to finish it. I've tried to avoid spending any real money, but it's definitely made the game more frustrating than it needs to be.
Despite the microtransactions, I've actually had a pretty good time playing Fashion Show: Makeup. The gameplay can be a bit repetitive at times, but it's just so relaxing. I mean, you're not really thinking about anything except for what colour lipstick to put on the next model, it's just mindless fun. And sometimes that's exactly what you need. I've been playing it on my commute to work and it's just the perfect way to unwind after a long day. I'm not saying it's the best game I've ever played, but it's definitely a fun way to kill some time.
I think the thing that's really keeping me coming back to Fashion Show: Makeup is the level of creativity you're allowed. You can customise the models to look however you want, and it's actually really cool to see what you can come up with. I've made some models look like they just stepped off the cover of a magazine, and it's a really good feeling. The game also has some pretty cool challenges and mini-games that you can play to earn extra rewards, which is a nice touch. It's not just the same old gameplay over and over again, there's actually some variety.
Overall, I'd say Fashion Show: Makeup is a solid game. It's not going to win any awards or anything, but it's a fun way to pass the time. If you're into fashion or makeup, you'll probably really enjoy it. Just be prepared for the microtransactions, because they can be a bit aggressive at times. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be playing it, but for now, it's a fun little distraction. And who knows, maybe I'll even learn a thing or two about makeup. Stranger things have happened, right.
