Destructive Merger Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last few days playing Destructive Merger and I've got to say, it's been a wild ride. I went into this game not knowing what to expect, I'd seen some screenshots and a brief trailer, but that was about it. The concept of the game, where you take on the role of a CEO trying to take down your competitors by any means necessary, sounded intriguing to me. I mean, who doesn't love a good underhanded business tactic every now and then?
The gameplay itself is pretty straightforward, you're presented with a map of the city, where various businesses are located, and it's your job to sabotage them, buy them out, or just plain old steal their ideas. It sounds simple, but trust me, it's not as easy as it sounds. The AI is pretty crafty, and they'll stop at nothing to take you down. I found myself getting pretty frustrated at times, but in a good way, you know? It's one of those games that makes you want to throw your controller across the room, but you'll be picking it up again in a minute because you just can't wait to get back to it.
The graphics and sound design in Destructive Merger are top notch. The city is beautifully rendered, with a great attention to detail. The sound effects are also spot on, from the sound of your competitors' businesses going up in flames, to the smooth talking CEO's trying to make a deal with you. The music is also catchy, it's got this great corporate vibe to it, that really gets you in the mood to take on the competition. Overall, the presentation of the game is fantastic, and it really adds to the overall experience.
One thing that I was a bit disappointed with, was the lack of multiplayer. I mean, can you imagine how much fun it would be to play this game with your friends, all trying to take each other down? It would be absolute chaos, and I would have loved to have seen that feature included. Maybe it's something they can add in a future update, but as it stands, it's a single-player only experience. That being said, the single-player campaign is pretty lengthy, and there's a lot of replayability to it, so you'll definitely get your money's worth.
As I played through the game, I started to notice that the difficulty level spiked pretty dramatically about halfway through. I'm not sure if this was intentional, or if it's just a bug, but it definitely made the game more challenging. I'm not complaining or anything, I love a good challenge, but it did feel a bit uneven at times. Maybe it's just me, but I found myself having to restart certain levels multiple times, just because I got caught off guard by how difficult they were. Still, it's not enough to detract from my overall experience, and I would definitely recommend Destructive Merger to anyone looking for a fun, challenging game.
Overall, I'd say that Destructive Merger is a solid game, that's definitely worth checking out. It's got a unique concept, great graphics and sound design, and it's just plain old fun to play. Sure, it's got its flaws, but what game doesn't, right? If you're looking for a game that's a bit off the beaten path, and you're not afraid of a challenge, then Destructive Merger is definitely the game for you. Just be prepared to get a little frustrated, and you'll be all set. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what the developers come out with next, because if it's anything like Destructive Merger, it's going to be a wild ride.
