Special Alien Review & Gameplay Guide

I just spent the last few days playing Special Alien, and I have to say it's been a bit of a mixed bag for me. The game's premise is pretty cool - you play as this alien who's trying to make its way back to its home planet after getting stranded on Earth. It's a pretty standard setup, but I was hoping the game would do something interesting with it. The gameplay is mostly platforming, with some puzzle elements thrown in to keep things fresh. The controls are pretty tight, which is good, but I did find myself getting frustrated with the camera from time to time.

One thing that really stood out to me about Special Alien is the graphics. They're not mind-blowing or anything, but the game has a really nice, vibrant color scheme that makes it a lot of fun to look at. The levels are all pretty well-designed, too - they're not super long, but they're long enough that you feel like you've accomplished something when you finally make it to the end. The music is also pretty catchy, although it can get a bit repetitive after a while. Overall, I'd say the presentation is one of the game's strong points.

Now, about the gameplay - like I said, it's mostly platforming. You've got your standard jump and dash moves, and you can also use this weird alien power to cling to certain surfaces and climb up walls. It's a pretty cool ability, but it can be a bit finicky to use sometimes. The puzzles are mostly okay, too - they're not super challenging or anything, but they do require a bit of thought to figure out. I did find myself getting stuck on a few of them, but that was mostly because I wasn't paying attention to the clues that the game was giving me.

As I played through the game, I started to notice that it's not super long. I mean, I finished it in like 6 hours or so, and that was with taking my time and exploring all the levels. It's not a huge deal or anything, but it did feel a bit short to me. I was expecting a bit more content, especially considering the game's price point. That being said, I did have a lot of fun playing through it, and I didn't really feel like I was missing out on anything major. The game's also got a few collectibles and stuff that you can go back and try to find, so there is some replay value if you're into that sort of thing.

One thing that I didn't really like about Special Alien was the story. It's not super developed or anything, and I didn't really feel like I was invested in the alien's journey. I mean, the game tells you that the alien is trying to get back home, but it doesn't really give you much reason to care about that. The characters are all pretty one-dimensional, too - there's not much in the way of characterization or development. It's not a huge deal, but it did make it hard for me to get into the game's world and really feel like I was a part of it.

Overall, I'd say Special Alien is a decent but not amazing game. It's got some nice graphics and music, and the gameplay is pretty fun, but it's also a bit short and the story is underdeveloped. If you're a fan of platformers and are looking for something to play, you might want to check it out - just don't expect it to blow you away or anything. With a bit more development and a longer campaign, Special Alien could have been something really special. As it stands, though, it's just an okay game that's worth playing if you've got some spare time and are looking for something casual to play.
