Resuce Escape Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last few days playing Rescue Escape, and I have to say it's been a bit of a mixed bag for me. I went into it expecting a pretty standard escape room-style game, and for the most part, that's what I got. The game's premise is pretty simple: you're a firefighter trying to rescue people from a burning building, and you have to navigate through the levels to reach them. It's a great concept, and I loved the sense of urgency that came with it - the sound effects and music really helped to create a tense atmosphere, and I found myself getting pretty into it.
The gameplay itself is pretty straightforward. You control your character as they move through the levels, solving puzzles and avoiding obstacles to reach the people who need rescuing. The puzzles are generally pretty clever, and I liked that they required a bit of thought to solve. Some of them were a bit too easy, but others were real brain-twisters, and I had to take a few minutes to think about them before I figured out the solution. I also appreciated that the game didn't hold my hand too much - it gave me a few hints, but for the most part, I was on my own to figure things out.
One thing that did bug me, though, was the controls. I played the game on PC, and I found that the keyboard controls were a bit clumsy. It wasn't always easy to get my character to go where I wanted them to, and I found myself getting frustrated when I'd try to move them to a certain spot and they'd get stuck on something. It wasn't a huge deal, but it did take away from the experience a bit. I've heard that the game plays better with a controller, so if you've got one, you might want to try that instead.
Despite the wonky controls, I did find myself getting pretty invested in the game. The levels are all pretty short, so it's easy to just play for a few minutes and then come back to it later. And even though the gameplay is pretty simple, there's a lot of replay value - the game tracks your completion time and score, so you can try to beat your own times and compete with other players. I also appreciated that the game didn't take itself too seriously - there are some pretty funny moments, and the characters you rescue all have their own little personalities.
As I got further into the game, I started to notice that the levels were getting a bit repetitive. The puzzles were still challenging, but the environments and obstacles started to feel a bit same-y. I'd already seen all the different types of challenges the game had to offer, and it started to feel like I was just doing the same things over and over. It's not a huge problem, but it did make the game feel a bit less exciting towards the end. Still, I'd say it's definitely worth playing - especially if you're a fan of puzzle games or escape rooms.
Overall, I'd say Rescue Escape is a solid, if not spectacular, game. It's not going to blow you away with its graphics or storytelling, but it's a fun, challenging puzzle game that's perfect for playing in short bursts. If you're looking for something to play on your lunch break or while you're waiting for a bus, it's a great choice. And even though it's not perfect, I'd definitely recommend it to fans of the genre - just be prepared for a bit of frustration with the controls, and don't expect too much in terms of variety or complexity.
