HUNTMAN Review & Gameplay Guide

So I just finished playing HUNTMAN and I gotta say, it was a wild ride. I'd seen some of my friends playing it on Twitch and I was curious about the whole monster hunting thing. I mean, who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned monster mash, right? The game didn't disappoint in that regard - the monsters are straight out of your worst nightmares and the combat is super satisfying. I loved the feeling of taking down a giant spider or werewolf with my trusty rifle and a well-placed shot.

But what really drew me in was the atmosphere of the game. The environments are all super creepy and immersive, with this eerie mist that rolls in and makes you feel like you're walking through a horror movie. The sound design is top-notch too - I found myself jumping out of my seat more than once when a monster would pop out of nowhere and start snarling in my ear. It's not just the jump scares that get you, though - the whole game has this sense of tension that builds up over time, making you feel like you're always on edge.

One thing that did take some getting used to was the controls. I'm not gonna lie, it took me a few hours to get the hang of the movement and combat mechanics. The game has this weird dash mechanic that's supposed to help you avoid monster attacks, but it feels kinda clunky at first. Once you get the hang of it, though, it's actually pretty useful - I found myself dashing all over the place to avoid getting mauled by giant bears and stuff. The crafting system is pretty cool too - I loved being able to craft new guns and ammo using resources I found lying around.

I do have to say, though, that the game got a bit repetitive after a while. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love killing monsters as much as the next guy, but after 20 hours or so, it starts to feel like you're just doing the same thing over and over. The game tries to mix things up with different monster types and environments, but it's not always enough to keep things feeling fresh. I also encountered a few bugs and glitches, which was frustrating - like, I'd be in the middle of a boss fight and the game would just freeze up on me. Not cool.

Despite all that, though, I'd still recommend HUNTMAN to anyone who's a fan of action games or just wants to try something new. It's a solid game with a lot to offer, even if it does get a bit same-y after a while. The devs seem pretty active too - I've seen them responding to feedback and patching out bugs, which is always a good sign. If you're looking for a game to play with friends, this might be a good choice too - the co-op mode is a blast, and it's way more fun to take down monsters with a team.

Overall, I'd give HUNTMAN 7 out of 10. It's a fun, if flawed, game that's definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for something a little different. Just be prepared for some frustration with the controls and repetition, and you'll be golden. And hey, even with its flaws, I'm still gonna be playing this game for a while - there's just something about the thrill of the hunt that keeps me coming back for more.
