I just spent the last few hours playing Candy Boom Links and I've got to say, it's a total mixed bag. I mean, it would be awesome to be able to compete with friends, or even just to see how my scores stack up against other players. As it is, the game's got a pretty basic leaderboard system, but it's not really the same as being able to play against other people in real-time. Maybe that's something that the developers could add in a future update - I'd definitely be excited to see it.

Overall, I'd say that Candy Boom Links is a solid, if not spectacular, puzzle game. It's got some great graphics and sound, and the gameplay's pretty addictive, but it's also got some flaws that hold it back from being a truly great game.
